SIMPLE BLACK DRESS

Copyright 2018 – Robert E. Shandor

I've been called Mr. Chill, like I have ice in my veins

Couldn’t warm me if you held my feet to the flames

Never thought I’d fall in love - wasn't built that way

I’d always been alone, and that seemed okay

I never lost my cool, didn’t show any strain

At least until that night I stepped in from the rain

Found a stool at the bar, ordered-up a shot

Spun around, saw her there - lookin' oh-so-hot

Ruby cheeks, big brown eyes - I thought I might be mesmerized

(She‘s so lovely!)

Luscious lips, made to kiss, a temptress I could not resist

(She‘s so lovely!)

She wore a simple black dress and looked so fine

She stole my heart away

Ruby cheeks, big brown eyes - I thought I might be mesmerized

(She‘s so lovely!)

Luscious lips, made to kiss, a temptress I could not resist

(She‘s so lovely!)

She wore a simple black dress and looked so fine

She stole my heart away

Never slowed my speed - like a runaway train

Any place I had been, never went again

Couldn't say stayin' put ever came nat'rally

I was born to wandering, and did it so easily

Win-win had never had a home in my brain

My life had mostly been a zero-sum game

Didn't know if I could share, hadn't given it thought - but when

I saw her something changed, right there on the spot

Ruby cheeks, big brown eyes - I thought I might be mesmerized

(She‘s so lovely!)

Luscious lips, made to kiss. a temptress I could not resist

(She‘s so lovely!)

She wore a simple black dress and looked so fine

She stole my heart away
