GREENER

Copyright 2009 – Robert E. Shandor

Flood waters risin' on the Mississippi

Glaciers meltin' down in Antarctica

Hurricanes blowin' in from the Bahamas

Twisters bearin' down on Topeka

Gapin' holes growin' in our ozone layer

While greenhouse gases continue to rise

Ultraviolet rays are intensifyin'

Carbon emissions are destroyin' our skies

All of us need to work together and

Do what's best to help our planet thrive

Put an end to our destructive behavior

We'll have to live cleaner, and get a lot greener

If we hope to ensure that our world can survive

Drought conditions spreadin' on a global basis

Pollution bein' dumped into our waterways

By twenty twenty-five it's said that half the planet

Will only know clean water from their yesterdays

Disposable products become toxic landfill

We're turning our world into a garbage heap

If it's not built to last then you shouldn't buy it

Remember what you sow is what you're gonna reap

All of us need to work together and

Do what's best to help our planet thrive

Put an end to our destructive behavior

We'll have to live cleaner, and get a lot greener

If we hope to ensure that our world can survive

Whole species bein' pushed into extinction

While we keep buildin' more and bigger cars

It's time to understand if we don't take some action

The species next to go surely could be ours

If you're not convinced that we have a problem

And you wanna deny that we've reached the brink

Then book yourself some lodging in the town of Wauchula

And get a front row seat to watch Miami sink

All of us need to work together and

Do what's best to help our planet thrive

Put an end to our destructive behavior

We'll have to live cleaner, and get a lot greener

If we hope to ensure that our world can survive
